ما هو؟What is it?
GEDCOM (اختصار Genealogical Data Communication) صيغة ملفات نصية بامتداد .ged، ظهرت في الثمانينيات وصارت المعيار الذي تستورد منه وتصدّر إليه برامج ومواقع الأنساب حول العالم.GEDCOM (Genealogical Data Communication) is a plain-text file format with the .ged extension. ماذا يحوي الملف؟What is inside?
- الأفراد: الاسم، الجنس، تواريخ الميلاد والوفاة، والملاحظاتPeople: name, sex, birth and death dates, notes
- العائلات: من تزوّج من، ومن أبناء كل زواجFamilies: who married whom, and the children of each marriage
- الروابط بينهم — وهي ما يجعل الملف شجرة لا قائمةThe links between them — which is what makes it a tree, not a list
لماذا يهمّكم؟Why does it matter to you?
لأنه ضمانة ألّا تُحتجز شجرتكم. إن كان الموقع الذي تستخدمونه يصدّر GEDCOM، فشجرتكم ملككم فعلًا: تنقلونها متى شئتم، وتحتفظون بنسخة عندكم، ولا يضيع تعب سنوات إن أُغلقت خدمة.Because it guarantees your tree can't be held hostage. If the site you use exports GEDCOM, the tree really is yours: you can move it whenever you like, keep a copy, and years of work aren't lost if a service closes.
وماذا عن الأسماء العربية؟What about Arabic names?
الإصدار الحديث من الصيغة يحفظ النص بترميز UTF-8، فتبقى الأسماء العربية كما هي. لكن بعض البرامج القديمة لا تعرض العربية جيدًا — جرّبوا الملف في البرنامج الذي تنوون استخدامه قبل الاعتماد عليه.The modern version of the format stores text as UTF-8, so Arabic names stay intact. Some older programs still display Arabic badly, though — test the file in the program you plan to use before relying on it.
