شجرة العائلة لا تحتاج خبرة ولا برنامجًا معقّدًا. تحتاج نقطة بداية واضحة، وصبرًا على جمع الأسماء، ومكانًا تحفظها فيه العائلة كلّها. هذه الخطوات هي ما تعلّمناه من بناء شجرتنا نحن.A family tree needs no expertise and no complicated software. It needs a clear starting point, patience in gathering names, and a place the whole family can keep it. These steps are what we learned building our own.
١. ابدأوا بالجدّ الأكبر الذي تعرفونه1. Start with the oldest ancestor you know
اختاروا أقدم جدّ تتفق عليه العائلة — غالبًا الجدّ الذي تُنسب إليه العائلة. هو جذع الشجرة، وكل من بعده يتفرّع منه. لا تبدأوا بأنفسكم ثم تصعدوا: البدء من الأعلى يجعل كل فرع يجد مكانه بسهولة.Pick the oldest ancestor the family agrees on — usually the one the family is named after. He is the trunk, and everyone after him branches from him. Don't start with yourself and climb: starting at the top lets every branch find its place.
٢. اجمعوا الأسماء من كبار العائلة2. Gather names from the family's elders
كبار السن هم أرشيف العائلة الحيّ. اجلسوا معهم واسألوا عن كل جيل بالترتيب: من أبناء الجدّ؟ ومن أبناء كل منهم؟ سجّلوا النسب كاملًا «فلان بن فلان بن فلان»، فهو ما يمنع الخلط بين الأسماء المتكررة.Elders are the family's living archive. Sit with them and go generation by generation: who were the grandfather's children? Who were each of theirs? Write the full lineage — "so-and-so son of so-and-so" — because that is what keeps repeated names apart.

٣. رتّبوا الأسماء جيلًا جيلًا3. Arrange the names generation by generation
في الشجرة العربية التقليدية يتفرّع الأبناء من الأب. ضعوا كل ابن وبنت تحت أبيه، واذكروا الزوجات والأمهات — فهي ما يربط فروع العائلة ببعضها، وما يبيّن صلة القرابة بين أبناء العمومة.In a traditional Arabic tree, children branch from their father. Put every son and daughter under their father, and record the wives and mothers — they are what ties branches together and shows how cousins are related.
٤. أضيفوا ما يجعل كل اسم إنسانًا4. Add what makes each name a person
الاسم وحده رقم في قائمة. سنة الميلاد، والبلد الذي يعيش فيه، وكلمة عنه، تحوّل الشجرة إلى ذاكرة. ومع انتشار العائلة بين المدن والبلدان، يصبح «أين يعيش» من أكثر ما يسأل عنه الأقارب.A name alone is a line in a list. A birth year, the country someone lives in and a few words about them turn the tree into a memory. As a family spreads across cities and countries, "where do they live now" becomes one of the things relatives ask most.
٥. اختاروا مكانًا تحفظون فيه الشجرة5. Choose where the tree will live
الورقة جميلة لكنها لا تكبر، وملف الجدول يبقى عند شخص واحد. أما الموقع الخاص فيتصفّحه الجميع من الموبايل، ويقترح فيه كل قريب تصحيحًا أو مولودًا جديدًا، ويعتمده المشرف — فتبقى الشجرة صحيحة وحيّة.Paper is beautiful but cannot grow, and a spreadsheet stays with one person. A private website is browsed by everyone on their phones; any relative can suggest a correction or a newborn, and an admin approves it — so the tree stays right, and alive.
٦. شاركوها، واتركوا العائلة تكملها6. Share it, and let the family finish it
أفضل لحظة لمشاركة الشجرة هي حين تكون ناقصة: كل قريب يرى فرعه فيتذكّر اسمًا أو تاريخًا. وحين تكتمل، اطبعوها ملصقًا وعلّقوها في الديوان أو في بيت العائلة.The best moment to share a tree is while it is still incomplete: every relative sees their branch and remembers a name or a date. When it is done, print it as a poster for the family's sitting room or the family home.
